Lasizwe Says “Don’t Waste Your Money On Me”

The South African Social Media Awards are here, and while most celebs are begging fans to vote like crazy, Lasizwe Dambuza is doing the complete opposite.

He’s up for three categories, but instead of hyping people up to vote, he straight up told his fans not to bother. The catch is that voting isn’t free. Every R10 buys four votes, and Lasizwe made it clear that he doesn’t want people spending their cash on him.

In a message to his followers, he said their love, support and engagement already mean more than any shiny trophy. He also pointed out that times are tough and people should rather use their money for themselves instead of throwing it into paid votes.

Fans have had mixed reactions. Some are clapping for him, saying it shows how humble and genuine he is. Others are side-eyeing the whole system, asking if it’s fair that an award can basically be bought if you have a fan base willing to spend.

Either way, Lasizwe has got people talking. By telling his fans to put themselves first, he’s showing that community matters more than clout. And honestly, that’s a pretty big win on its own.

Would you pay to vote? Let us know in the comments.
